Galaga

How can you take a classic shoot-em-up and make it even better? In the case of Galaga you can’t, but at least heavyweight publisher Namco didn’t do anything to scratch the paint. If you’re a fan of the stand-up arcade version of Galaga, you can’t go wrong with the Live Arcade version.
I won’t lie to the readers - it’s hard for me to give an objective review of Galaga. I simply love Galaga. I love the melodic tune that wafts out of the speakers before each level. I love watching my fighter get captured, knowing that it’ll soon be back with its brother were it belongs. I love Galaga so much that I named my first-born after the game. Top that, fanatics.
If you’ve spent your entire paycheck (in quarters) feeding your love of Galaga, then this title is for you. It might take a few games to get used to the not-a-joystick controls, but with a little practice you’ll be dualing in no time. Namco easily defends its XBLA high score with this winner.
